As part of Ukraine's annual Cybersecurity Month, a two-day event “Cybersecurity: New Trends and Challenges for Ukrainian Companies, with a Focus on the Entry into Force of New EU Legislation” was held.

Organised by the Kyiv Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the Kyiv City State Administration, the event addressed the current challenges businesses face in cyber protection. Speakers included representatives from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, and the Cyber Police Department, as well as international partners and leading industry experts from Cisco, ESET, Asters, and CoreWin.

The event opened with Oleksandr Potii, Head of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, presenting a report on the legislative framework for cybersecurity in Ukraine in the context of new EU legislation.

The programme covered a number of critical issues in detail:
- current solutions and the cyber resilience experience of companies in modern conditions;
- the opportunities and risks of using artificial intelligence in cyber defence;
- practical recommendations for ensuring the security of information and communication systems;
- the algorithm for responding to cyber incidents and countering cyber fraud.

The stages of building a cybersecurity system and providing effective protection for small and medium-sized businesses were also covered.

On the second day, Oleksandr Yudin, Scientific Secretary of the State Scientific and Research Institute of Cybersecurity Technologies and Information Protection, opened the proceedings. He gave a presentation on creating a unified system for the professional standardisation and certification of personnel in the field of cybersecurity and information protection. This initiative aims to introduce a unified personnel policy for public and private organisations alike, as required by Ukrainian Law No. 4336, in order to align with the best international practices.

The experts emphasised in their discussion that strengthening the cyber resilience of businesses is a key priority on the path to European integration. They identified joint work by the state and the private sector on implementing European standards as a necessary condition for a secure digital future in Ukraine.
